Florida Poker Runs - Boat Poker Run, Florida Keys Poker Run

Florida is renowned for its wide and sunny beaches as well as its adrenaline raising poker runs. Though there are many such events held in the state, the two that hit the top of the list are definitely Florida Keys Poker Run and Boat Poker Run. s

Florida Keys Poker Run is one of the largest runs in Florida Poker, with a legacy of 34 years and an association with Harley-Davidson. This poker run started in 1972 with 46 bikers, and today stands unprecedented at 10,000 bikers in participation.

Phil Peterson of Harley was the first corporate hand to associate with the event. The money raised during this carnival of biking and poker playing goes to local charities and for progressive economic growth.

Mainland Florida and Key West have great affinity towards the Florida poker runs. The largest poker run of the country, the Key West Poker Run, is also organized in the region on the Overseas Highway. Besides the bikers, car and truck drivers also buy poker hands to participate in the event. The players stop at five stop points along the poker run course. Those who earn the top poker hands earn a seat at the final Texas Hold’em table.

The Florida Poker Runs are also known for some of the most entertaining side shows that run along with the main poker run events. The Florida Keys Poker Run has custom bike show and the bikini bike wash show. The final event of this Florida poker run is a Bikers’ Bash.

Yet another one of the Florida poker runs is the Emerald Coast Boat Poker Run. It is part of the immensely popular Emerald Coast Boat Week. It is a week-long celebration of boating and poker. Party being a staple of all Florida Poker Runs, the Boat Poker Run begins with a kick off party that includes fun filled activities like a Boat Building Event, Ski Show, Nautical Swap Meet and Boat in Movie. Later, there is a Captain’s Party, which is mandatory for all poker runners. This party is also known for its spectacular fireworks display.

It is not mandatory for you to be a boat owner in order to participate in any of the boating events of Florida’s poker runs. You can build your own boat in the boat building events or hire one for the poker run.

Like most of the Florida poker runs, the Boat Poker Run is organized to raise money for charity. The Emerald Coast Boat Poker Run helps raise over a million dollars for local youth organizations and other charities. This event is the largest boat poker run in the country.
